Compound effect: Why should you never underestimate the power of compounding.

Domino effect: 🁭🁯 Do you know about the domino effect? If you know about it, then we'll done if you don't then let me explain. So, in the book 'The One Thing' by Gary Keller. He mentions that " In 1983, Lorne Whitehead wrote in the American Journal of Physics that he’d discovered that domino falls could not only topple many things, but they could also topple bigger things. He described how a single domino is capable of bringing down another domino that is actually 50 per cent larger. " You won't understand the power of the domino effect by a simple definition so let me explain it to you. Consider a domino 2 inches tall. So according to the definition, a domino can bring down another domino which is 50 percent larger. So the 2-inch domino can bring down a 3-inch domino and the 3-inch domino can bring down a 4.5-inch domino.  It's a geometric progression and you will be surprised to know that the 17th domino can topple a domino almost the size of the L

Mindfulness - It changes everything

Mindfulness by monks:

You have probably seen monks on your phone, tv or if you are lucky enough, then in your real life. Sometimes you have seen them and thought that " How do these people remain so calm? " There is a simple answer to this question. Monks have practiced meditation and mindfulness to such extent that their brains in their normal state is just like a novice person meditating.

As monk Takafumi Kawakami has said in a Ted talk "We suffer due to our thoughts of past and worry about future". So our sufferings mostly occur because we are not mindful.

In his Ted talk monk Takafumi Kawakami has said that the best practice of developing mindfulness is meditation because it is itself a practice of remaining in the present moment. As our present actions determine our future- what you do today will surely determine your future.

I won't go into detail on how to meditate for developing mindfulness but the most common practice is inhaling slowly and exhaling slowly and focusing on the breath the entire time. This is the most basic practice to develop mindfulness, although there are probably a thousand others.

Advantages of mindfulness:

Now after a study on experienced meditators it was found that they were happier than the average person just because they had learnt to keep their mind focused on only one thing i.e. the present moment.

Some of the various advantages of mindfulness are:
1) Reduced anxiety
2) Less stress
3) More concentration
4) Reduced suferring etc.

Mindfulness in real life:

Mindfulness is a skill which improves all aspects of our life. example: You are working on a project and if you are just not mindful and thinking of the fight you had with your wife/husband would you be able to complete that project properly. - answer is probably no.

Another example: Suppose you are driving a car and are mindfully thinking about your speed, focusing on the road. Another case where you are just chilling to music and not focusing on the road i.e.you are not at all mindful. So in which case do you think you would have an accident; probably in the second case. This is just two cases where mindfulness is helpful, but mindfulness can be applied to every aspect of life.

Mindfulness is corporate world:

Many corporate businesses understand the value of mindfulness and are applying it so that their employees may be more happy and more efficient in their work. Some of those companies are -- Google, LinkedIn, Ford motors, Target etc.
These companies have some days where people practice mindfulness meditation to calm their mind.

You can't achieve the benefits of mindfulness by just studying it through some articles you have to practice it on your own.
