Compound effect: Why should you never underestimate the power of compounding.

Domino effect: 🁭🁯 Do you know about the domino effect? If you know about it, then we'll done if you don't then let me explain. So, in the book 'The One Thing' by Gary Keller. He mentions that " In 1983, Lorne Whitehead wrote in the American Journal of Physics that he’d discovered that domino falls could not only topple many things, but they could also topple bigger things. He described how a single domino is capable of bringing down another domino that is actually 50 per cent larger. " You won't understand the power of the domino effect by a simple definition so let me explain it to you. Consider a domino 2 inches tall. So according to the definition, a domino can bring down another domino which is 50 percent larger. So the 2-inch domino can bring down a 3-inch domino and the 3-inch domino can bring down a 4.5-inch domino.  It's a geometric progression and you will be surprised to know that the 17th domino can topple a domino almost the size of the L

How to get remarkable results with less work

The main teaching from the book The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy is:
"The compound effect is the strategy of reaping huge rewards from small, seemingly insignificant actions."

It basically means that to achieve remarkable results we do not need to do extreme changes to our lifestyle but small insignificant changes do compound over time and it leads to great changes.

A very good example would be of Ed Sheeran. Ed Sheeran once said in an interview  "I've dropped like 35 pounds in like, three months just from not drinking beer. I've replaced it with vodka."

So see, many people want to lose weight quickly and see their desired results in a short amount of time by making extreme changes to their lifestyle but it simply boils down to one thing in the beginning, 'making small lifestyle changes for remarkable results'.

Later on you may gradually introduce more good habits to your daily life in order to notice even better results.

An important question is "How can I introduce small changes to gain remarkable results?":

In the beginning you can just start by introducing some simple habits like:

If you want to lose weight: Cut out a little amount of beer or if you don't drink these cut out just a bit of junk food. Eat a little less junk food than usual. You won't see results on first day but with time you will notice your weight dropping.

If you want good skin: Just start with the act of drinking a glass of water every morning then slowly introduce a skin care routine and slowly increase the amount of water you drink. As a result you will have a beautiful skin. Also you should aim to cut out a bit of junk food and start eating some healthy snacks.

If you want a good body: Don't aim for a full 2 hour workout on the first day to notice results. Start by atleast walking to the gym and then back home. Then slowly start doing some exercises in the gym. In the span so some months you will see your physique getting better.

If you want to be more knowledgeable:
Don't go and read a while encyclopedia on the first day. Start slowly by reading atleast 5 facts each day and then increasing it gradually. You can also read one page of a book per day and then increase it and one day you will have a ton of knowledge.

See you can easily implement some basic changes to get remarkable results over time due to the power of compound effect.

Let's give you some examples:

Let there be two persons named Shawn and Peter. They both are best friends and both decide to change their life on the same day.

Shawn: Shawn decides to change his life. Be decides that by the next 2 months he will be a completely different person. Shawn usually used to wake up at 9 am but now he wakes up at 5 am. He usually ate junk food but now he has completely cut out junk food and eats healthy food. Shawn used to shower once every three days but now he showers everyday with soap. Shawn goes to the gym everyday and aims for a 2 hour workout.

Peter: Peter also decides to change his life but he doesn't want to change his life in 2 months. He gives himself a time span of 2 years. Peter used to wake up at 9 am just like Shawn but now he sets his alarm at 8:40am and decides that he will wake up 20 mins earlier after every 20 days and his final aim is also to wake up at 5 am. Peter doesn't eat meat and vegetables all day. He has continues eating junk food but takes the decision to replace the habit of eating junk food with healthy food slowly and gradually. Peter just like Shawn used to shower once every three days but now he showers once every two days and aims to shower everyday. Shawn in the beginning just walks to his gym but slowly he starts to exercise in there.

Although both of them have decided to change their life but whom do you think will be more successful in changing his life. It's most likely Peter. Peter doesn't want exceptional changes in just a short span of time.  He just wants to improve slowly and gradually.

Whereas, Shawn pushes himself to do so many things at once that he gets frustrated and feels burnout and likely continues with his bad habits.

Most important requirement for achieving remarkable results:

It's not doing many good things at once it's simply doing some good things and doing them long enough to see the results.

In other words you just need discipline and patience. Discipline to show up everyday and do the hard work and patience to do it long enough to notice the results.

I promise you that if you do the right things for long enough, life will surely bless you and you will notice remarkable results with the passage of time.
